Publicly Traded BDC Seeks Private Companies for Investment.
Chicago, IL – January 10, 2007 – As was announced last week, MorrisBDC (previously reported as EMEC), a publicly traded Business Development Corporation (BDC), has agreed to launch the first exclusive North American Entrex index fund under the name Morris Capital Fund I, LP. With plans to make initial investments of up to US$1M in 200 private, fast growth and entrepreneurial companies in 2007, the California based MorrisBDC expects the fund to quickly exceed US$200M in value.
Firms representing all industry sectors are encouraged to apply. The Morris team will select companies based on their business model, scalability, management, current financial success and other key factors that drive corporate growth. Once pre-selected by Morris, companies hoping for a place in the Fund must engage in a corporate validation and valuation process—a proprietary methodology established by Entrex, Inc.— in order to determine that they in fact warrant the label “Entrex Ensured.” More information about this determination can be found at the company’s website www.entrex.net.
BDCs are closed-end investment funds, designed by Congress, to help small to medium-sized private American companies (up to US$100M in sales) access the capital needed to grow and succeed. This fund (OTC: OB) is unique because the portfolio will be comprised entirely of equity shares in only “Entrex Ensured” thoroughly vetted high-performing companies. On a formulaic basis, the Fund will purchase stock from existing shareholders or newly distributed capital stock from each company.
Fund companies will not only receive capital; the Morris team intends to mentor executives to progress the financial and business growth of their firms. Companies that are growing at exceptionally high rates could even be considered for going public themselves. The Morris team welcomes this and is equipped to guide companies through this process with minimal disruption to the continuing growth of client-services operations.
All interested companies should contact Erika Conefry at Entrex (econefry@entrex.net) to learn more about engaging in this pioneering effort.
